We collect high quality British interiors sample, display and production waste direct from the UK interiors industry; fabric that has reached the end of the road and no longer has any sale value. With our charity partners we are repurposing these smaller pieces into everyday useful, beautiful items for the home – keeping them in use for as long as possible.
Sew with us
We work with charities who support our target sewing communities, helping tackle social isolation. We provide materials and patterns, offering creative and inclusive opportunities to come together in craft practice. We profit share with our sewing communities.
Design
We work with designers who specialise in textiles and patchwork block pattern development to help guide the creation of our cloth and end patterns. We make practical, beautiful homeware from door stops and draught excluders to cushions and pouffes.
Send us your fabric
We prioritise natural fibre fabrics designed, printed, embroidered and woven in the UK. We take loose samples, sample books, remnants, end of rolls and production waste. 15×15 cm (square) or 10x15cm (rectangle) are the smallest pieces we can take, up to 2 metres the largest.
Not for Profit Homeware
Distinctive, practical homeware made in Britain; designed to reduce UK landfill of surplus samples and small piece designer interior fabrics. All our products are made entirely from samples and remnants, including our stuffing! Mousekins is fully circular, using our own shredded textile waste for stuffing as well as pre-consumer cotton textile shred supplied to us by Shred Station UK.
Sewing partnerships
Mousekins homeware covers are made by prisoners and apprentices supported by Fine Cell Work, a charity empowering prisoners and prison leavers to rebuild independent crime free lives through needlework. Our partnership with Fine Cell Work continues after apprenticeship; Mousekins offers both volunteering and self-employed paid sewing work to referred prison leaver sewers who want to continue making Mousekins homeware covers, usually from home.
Volunteer!
We host volunteer events in the London borough of Hammersmith & Fulham and in Fittleworth, West Sussex welcoming anyone who would like to participate. Our volunteers sort and prepare fabrics ready for sewing and shredding, and stuff & hand finish products. Our designers are also all volunteers.
